Modern dance is a free, expressive style of dancing started in the early 20th century as a reaction to classical ballet. It rejects the restrictive structure and rules of classical ballet and focuses on breath, natural movement and the human experience. Typically practiced to percussion or piano music, modern classes at Integral Ballet combine elements of yoga, classical ballet, contemporary dance and natural movement.
This is an ideal class for beginner-intermediate students. Modern dance increases core strength, balance, grace, fluidity and flexibility and provides a great cardio work out.
